The No. 1 ranked Clemson Men’s Soccer team cruised to a 4-0 victory over UNC Asheville at Historic Riggs Field Tuesday evening in a match that was never close.

Clemson moved to 4-0-0 on the season, getting goals from Nathan Richmond, Ousmane Sylla, Mohamed Seye and Isaiah Reid in the match.

Sylla and Seye continue their dominant play on the season and the Bulldogs were outmatched in this one from beginning to end, with head coach Mike Noonan indicating it was perhaps the Tigers most complete performance of the season, including a 3-2 season opening win against No. 13 Indiana.

Richmond, a freshman making his first start, got the Tigers rolling after a pass from Seye and calmly pushed the ball into the goal 13 minutes into the match for his first collegiate goal.

Sylla made it 2-0 as Seye earned his second assist of the night and just two minutes later Seye scored on a pass from Sylla that he drilled into the net to make the score 3-0.

Early in the second half Sylla found Isaiah Reid wide open to put the Tigers up 4-0 with about 40 minutes remaining.

Clemson completely dominated the match as Asheville’s goalkeeper looked overwhelmed in stretches and the Tigers controlled the play for the entire match.

The Tigers emptied the bench playing 21 players and outshot the Bulldogs an amazing 32-5 on the night, making it relatively easy for Joseph Andema’s to register his second shutout in as many starts.

Next up, the Tigers visit Boston College on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and the match will stream on the mother of all networks, ACCNX.

Following that match, Clemson travels to Birmingham, Alabama for a match with the Blazers on Tuesday, September 13, followed by a home tilt with ACC foe Syracuse on Friday, September 16 at Riggs Field.

Over the years Syracuse and Clemson have had some epic battles on the soccer pitch.
