The preseason awards and recognition keep rolling in for the most decorated Clemson football defensive linemen as Bryan Bresee was named to the first team preseason All-American Team by CBSSports.com, while Myles Murphy earned second team honors.
Bresee, a redshirt sophomore from Damascus, Maryland is coming off an ACL injury that kept him out of all but four games in 2021.
Bresee was a third-team All-ACC selection despite only playing in those four games last season and had 15 tackles, 3.0 for loss, 1.5 sacks and an interception over 154 snaps.
Bresee had a big game in the opener when he had seven tackles, including one for loss against Georgia and also had 2 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks and his first career interception vs. Georgia Tech.
Bresee was the number 1 overall recruit in the class of 2020 and committed to Clemson on April 23, 2019.
Murphy is a junior from Hillgrove High School in Marietta, Georgia and was the seventh overall ranked recruit in the class of 2020 and committed to the Tigers on May 17, 2019.
Murphy has been dominant from the beginning, earning Freshman All-America honors and begins 2022 with 94 tackles, including 26 for loss, 11 sacks, 5 forced fumbles and 3 pass breakups in 963 snaps at Clemson.

Clemson football defensive linemen Bryan Bresee and Myles Murphy named to CBS Preseason All-American Team
Murphy and Bresee anchor a deep and talented defensive line for the Tigers that is expected to be one of the nation’s best in 2022 and the group is expected to lead Clemson in a season of questions on the offensive side of the ball.
It should come as a surprise to nobody that Alabama, Georgia and Ohio State lead the way with three first-teamers each and the Tide have the most selections with six.
It’s also no surprise that the SEC has members from seven different teams and 18 picks, while six Big Ten teams are represented.
Ohio State coach Ryan Day was named the Preseason Coach of the Year.
