The trip to South Bend, Indiana in early November just got a little more interesting for Clemson football fans, as if it wasn’t already at the top of the list.

According to StubHub, the Clemson-Notre Dame game is the 7th ranked game in terms of sales as of August 12th.

Ahead of the Tigers and Irish are: Alabama at Texas (Sept. 10), Notre Dame at Ohio State (Sept. 3), Texas A&M at Alabama (Oct. 8), Oregon vs. Georgia (Sept. 3; Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium), Michigan at Ohio State (Nov. 26) and Auburn at Alabama (Nov. 26).

Rounding out the top 10 are West Virginia at Pittsburgh (Sept. 1), Oklahoma at Nebraska (Sept. 17), Florida State vs. LSU (Sept. 4; New Orleans’ Caesars Superdome).

Many see the trip to Notre Dame in November as the biggest obstacle on Clemson’s schedule and it could have a significant impact on the Tigers playoff resume despite being a non-conference contest.

After 8 consecutive games, Clemson will have the last Saturday in October off to prepare for the Irish, while Notre Dame will travel to Syracuse on October 29th.

While Clemson opens with Georgia Tech, Furman and Louisiana Tech in 12 day span, the Irish tackle Ohio State in their opener on September 3, in a game that Notre Dame is currently a 14.5 point underdog in.

Clemson football travels to Notre Dame in early November for one of the most sought after tickets of the college football season

Clemson last traveled to Notre Dame in the pandemic plagued 2020 season, facing the Irish without Trevor Lawrence.  D.J. Uiagalelei performed admirably in his stead, completing 29 of 44 passes for 439 yards and 2 touchdowns as the Tigers fell 47-40 in double overtime.

Six weeks later the Tigers exacted revenge in the ACC Championship Game, blasting the Irish 34-10 with a healthy Lawrence throwing for 322 yards.

ESPNs FPI metric gives the Tigers a 60% chance of beating the Irish, at least currently and that’s a number to keep an eye on as the season develops.

In my early guesses back in July, this is the one game where I took the opponent vs. Clemson, but that could certainly change over time depending on the performances of each team.

Clemson’s concerns are well documented in this space, while Notre Dame has a new head coach and is dealing with some injury concerns at receiver and running back.
