Since the whirlwind of June and early July that was Clemson football recruiting, things have slowed a bit for the Tigers.

With 17 commitments and the fourth rated class via 247sports.com in hand the Tigers staff has  done yeoman’s work this summer towards solidifying what could turn out to be a top 10 class when all is said and done.

It’s a long way to December when these recruits can actually sign with Clemson, so it seems fair to ask the question if these recruits are solid with the Tigers.

Our friend Jason Priester over at AllClemson.com has an answer for those worried about shifting loyalties that tend to hover in fans heads, mine included.

"SRabb: Do you feel like most of these 2023 guys will stay committed? It’s a long time from now to December.Yes, we are still several months away from the beginning of the early signing period. While there certainly are no guarantees when it comes to decommitments, I am of the opinion that every player currently committed is rock solid. Having said that, things change, and sometimes rather quickly.Coaches change jobs, or in some instances get fired. We all saw what happened when Brent Venables departed for Oklahoma. All that to say, nothing is set in stone, but I do wholeheartedly believe all 17 current commits are as solid as they come. For example, I’ll address the one I have already been asked about numerous times. I don’t see any scenario in which Peter Woods changes his mind and suddenly decides he wants to go to Alabama after all. I just don’t think that is in his nature. It’s not in his character."

The 17 Clemson commitments all appear to be solid to the Tigers, but things can change at the drop of a hat

That’s good news for Clemson fans, but as JP noted, things can change.  That’s the truth, not just a throwaway, CYA line.  You’re dealing with young people and emotions, people pulling, pushing and tugging at them constantly.

In a previous update we noted the ongoing recruitment of Stanton Ramil, a teammate of Peter Woods.  It may just be me, but the latest didn’t sound exactly encouraging from a Clemson point of view.

Perhaps that’s me reading too much into it, plus the fact Clemson didn’t get an official visit makes me wonder, though Ramil still includes the Tigers among his potential landing spots.

"During June, the 6’7″, 315lbs All-American took all five of his official visits, including stops at Pitt, Michigan State, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Penn State. Ramil has a public list of top schools that also features Clemson, Auburn, and Mississippi State, who, despite not getting official visits, are still in the running for the coveted offensive tackle as he processes his recruitment."

Finally, there’s nothing new on the running back front, other than Chris Johnson has not committed to Miami, which Priester sees as a positive for Clemson, but notes the Tigers have to get him on campus this fall for a shot.

We all know what’s possible once recruits get on the Clemson campus.
