Clemson football: Counting down toughest games of 2022 Part 3 of 3
By Casey Cregan
#2 – Notre Dame Fighting Irish – 11/5 – South Bend
There was a lot of internal battles here between which game would be 4 and 3 and which games would be 2 and 1. I went with Notre Dame in the 2nd hole and I believe the reasoning is sound.
In the grand scheme of things this game does not really matter. In the National landscape it means a lot. If the Tigers are to return to the College Football Playoff, which fans are hopeful for and some national pundits are calling for, this game does have meaning.
For me? It’s a novelty game. A game that fans will clamor for tickets to get to one of college football’s meccas. And I hope the Tigers come out on top. This is the 9th game of the season, so all of the unknowns for both teams should be figured out by then. The unknowns being who will be at quarterback for their respective teams? Will it be Bueckner or Pyne? Will it be DJ U or Cade?
As things stand right now, these two teams are pretty evenly matched. New coach Marcus Freeman has breathed new life into the program and the fanbase and has recruited at an amazing level. Notre Dame is always talented, regardless of their record in NY6 and CFP playoff games.
This game has become a nice little rivalry of late, and it is the 2nd toughest game of the season for the Tigers.
