Brendon Bennett a 2024 lefthanded pitching prospect announced he would be changing his commitment from Michigan to Clemson baseball last night via Twitter.

Bennett is now the sixth former Michigan commit to flip to Clemson since Erik Bakich was named the head coach just over a month ago. Bennett is currently attending Novi High School (MI) at the moment. Bennett decommitted from Michigan in late June, before announcing his commitment to the Tigers.

The 6’2, 200 pound Bennett is shown with an 89 MPH fastball on his Perfect Game profile, but at only 16.5 years old he has time to develop before he arrives at Clemson.

As of right now the Tigers are ranked 31st nationally with the recruiting class so far. An early look at the 2024 class indicates that the Tigers are ranked 40th nationally so far and still have a lot of work to do.

Bennett joins Drew Titsworth, Joe Allen, Nolan Nawrocki, Jack Crighton and Dillion Head as former Michigan commits to flip to Clemson since Erik Bakich was named head coach.  In addition, two former Michigan players have transferred to Clemson.

Bennett is in the class of 2024, Titsworth and Head are in the class of 2023.

Bakich continues the turnover of a Clemson roster that will definitely have a massively different look and feel in 2023, as he begins to build the program in his style.

Upon his hiring Bakich indicated the state of South Carolina would be a priority in recruiting, even mentioning his intention to dominate the state.

That may come with time, but for now, Bakich is reeling in commitments that he has relationships with and those are in Michigan and the Midwest for the time being.

Next. How would Clemson fare in the SEC. dark

Bakich will have to develop and cultivate relationships in South Carolina over time, but for now he’s doing what needs to be in order to be competitive in 2023.
