Once again, Clemson baseball has flipped a former Michigan commitment for the 2023 class.  This is the second flip in two days and fifth overall.

Erik Bakich’s stated desire to dominate the state of South Carolina will have to wait, as right now he is dominating Michigan and the midwest in general.

This time the get was Drew Titsworth, a 6’4, 220 pound right handed pitcher and outfielder from Frankenmuth, Michigan.

The Perfect Game profile of Titsworth is slim, but it does say this:

"UP TO 90 MPH WITH A GOOD FEEL TO SPIN AND FOR THE ZONE; DOMINANT IN PG TOURNAMENTS IN 2020."

There’s also this video from Perfect Game Ohio Valley.

As mentioned above, Titsworth is the fifth former Michigan commit to flip to Clemson, along with  Joe Allen, Nolan Nawrocki, Jack Crighton and Dillion Head.

Though Titsworth and Head are in the class of 2023, the Clemson roster will look vastly different in 2023 with these additions, 2 transfers from Michigan and the departure of multiple players off the 2022 Clemson roster.

Erik Bakich’s goal is to dominate South Carolina in recruiting, but this summer he’s dominating Michigan and the Midwest

The turnover is inevitable for a program changing coaching staffs and styles of play as the team moves from being led by Monte Lee to Erik Bakich.

Long term Bakich’s goal is to dominate recruiting in the state of South Carolina, but given his date of hire it’ll be tough to do so this season.

He obviously had relationships with these five previous Michigan commitments and they chose to follow him to Clemson, which speaks volumes for Coach Bakich and his ability to connect to the young men he’s recruiting.

With the influx of players from Michigan and the Midwest comes intrigue and suspense on what the 2023 season will bring for Clemson due not only the turnover in coaches, but also the roster turnover that is underway in the program.
