I wasn’t totally surprised the Tigers had trouble scoring against Georgia last season in the opener, though how bad the offense looked was a bit jarring.  The fact that the Georgia defense had 27 players drafted and went on have one of the best defenses since the 2018 Clemson unit changed the feel of the offensive output in retrospect.

However, I really knew the Tigers were in trouble on offense two weeks later with the putrid output (284 total yards) against a bad Georgia Tech team that would go on to post a 3-9 record.

This is a team that the Tigers had devastated in the two previous seasons, by scores of 73-7 and 52-14, yet they barely squeaked out a 6 point win at home. Yikes.

I don’t expect that to happen this season, but I don’t expect 73-7 either, which means it’s more than likely it’s somewhere in between.  I’m not particularly far out on a limb with that brilliant analysis am I?

The ground game will be in full force, with a few safe passes and a shot or two to get those on film, loosen up the defense and provide some eye candy.

This should be a confidence building game.

Expect a workman-like heavy dose of Shipley, Pace and Mafah as the Tigers ride the ground game to victory.
