Notre Dame has entered the chat.

The Fighting Irish is college football’s white whale when it comes to getting them to join a conference. The Irish have been independent for literally forever, but the rising tide of realignment has made it more difficult for them to have football independence. Since they are already in the ACC for non-football sports, a move from Notre Dame into the conference for football might be able to stave off defectors at least until the media rights deal ends.
