Clemson football: Counting down the toughest games of 2022 – Part 1 of 3
By Casey Cregan
#10 – Louisiana Tech Bulldogs – 9/17 – Clemson, SC
New Head Coach Sonny Cumbie takes over the reins at Louisiana Tech for this upcoming season. He has been tutored by a wealth of good to great offensive minds in college football (Kliff Kingsbury and Mike Leach). His offenses have gone very fast in the past and will sling it around the field.
Some of you may be too young, but I still have nightmares about Kliff Kingsbury quarterbacking Texas Tech in a beat-down of the Tigers in the 2002 Tangerine Bowl, so anytime he or someone attached to him is brought up in conversation, I shudder a little bit. However, having watched a couple of La Tech games last year, I just do not see them having the talent to compete with the Tigers. Another hot game in the Valley in September, but I believe this may be a time we see a bunch of Daniel High School alums playing meaningful minutes.
Offensively, the Bulldogs will choose between Matthew Downing (TCU) or Parker McNeil (Texas Tech) at Quarterback.
Defensively, there are far too many holes and with a
n offensive-minded head coach, schools like this
are going to try to outscore their opponents. Th
at may work in Conference USA, but it will not work against the Tigers. Louisiana Tech is the 10th toughest game of the season for Clemson.
