Clemson football: Counting down the toughest games of 2022 – Part 1 of 3
By Casey Cregan
#11 – Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets – 9/5 – Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta, GA
Georgia Tech enters the list as the 11th toughest game for the Tigers, and for me, it is because of the place on the schedule. Opening game, Labor Day Weekend on the Monday night, prime time. Oh, and because of all of the unknowns for Geoff Collins’ (fourth season) team.
Back is Jeff Sims at Quarterback, but the Jackets lost a ton on offense through the transfer portal, notably Jahmyr Gibbs to Alabama. There is still some talent at WR as leading receiver Malachi Carter is back, however, that defense was atrocious a season ago. Even with some improvement it is hard to see a defense that was ranked 100 or lower in most statistical categories get better in one off-season.
I toyed with the idea of putting GT 12th, but because of the FCS moniker on Furman, GT will remain at 11th toughest game for the Tigers in 2022.
