The Clemson baseball roster is undergoing a transformation.

Clemson baseball has seen it’s share of defections since the announcement of the coaching change at the end of May.

Roster turnover was expected, it was just a matter of how many and how bad would the losses be.

But the opposite is also true: Players that were at Michigan to play for Erik Bakich could decide to pursue their college baseball dreams in the sunny south, and a couple of former Michigan players have done just that.

Now comes word that two Michigan commitments have decided to flip their commitment to Clemson.

Rockville Centre (N.Y.) Chaminade High School 2022 shortstop Nolan Nawrocki  announced his commitment to the Tigers on Instagram.

"“Super excited to announce that I will be continuing my athletic and academic career at Clemson University,” Nawrocki wrote on Instagram. “Can’t thank Coach Bakich and Coach Schnabel (assistant head coach and recruiting coordinator Nick Schnabel) enough for the countless opportunities! Pumped to be a Tiger and join the Clemson Baseball family!”"

Perfect Game ranks Nawrocki as a 9.5 on scale of 1-10, which puts him somewhere between a potential top 10 round pick and/or high level college prospect and a potential high round draft pick.

Joe Allen also announced his switch a right handed pitcher and first baseman from Hampton Falls, New Hampshire announced his decision via Twitter.

There is not a profile of Allen on Perfect Game, but it does note a fastball of 95 MPH.

Coaching changes in any sport bring changes and that’s not always a negative

Roster upheaval is a consequence of a coaching change, no matter the sport, but that’s not always a negative, especially when the team has underachieved in the last few seasons.

Players have a chance to move on and get a fresh start and the incoming coach has the opportunity to bring in players that’s he’s recruited, likely knows well and blend them with the remaining core players.

I’d expect more comings and goings with Clemson baseball in the near future as the 2023 team begins to take shape.
