Clemson football: Commitment time for prime targets
As the calendar flips from June to July the Tigers have multiple big time prospects on the verge of announcing their commitments.
Clemson football has had a flurry of commitments over the month of June, but as the month has wound down things have slowed just a tad, as they’re bound to when there’s a limit on the number of players that can agree to be a Tiger.
There’s still space in the 2023 class for plenty of Tigers – at least there is today – but one has to look no further than the Tiger targets planning to commit in the next 10 or 11 days to see that the room may become more crowded by July 8.
The oft discussed offensive lineman, Harris Sewell of Odessa Permian High School in Odessa, Texas will announce on Wednesday.
There are two crystal ball predictions in for Sewell and both project him to Clemson.
Running back is a position the Tigers have struggled to get much traction with and the same could go for Jeremiah Cobb who will announce on July 1.
There are four crystal balls for Cobb, including one from Steve Wiltfong, and they all point to Auburn as his destination.
While you can’t get them all, Clemson would really like another running back and the elite options are running thin at the moment.
Clemson won’t win them all on the recruiting trail, but three out of four wouldn’t be bad
Next is four star offensive lineman Zechariah Owens, who has a whopping nine crystal balls for Clemson and is scheduled to commit on July 4.
The big name in question is five star defensive lineman, Peter Woods who some have maintained the Tigers have a shot at, despite Woods being from Alabaster, Alabama and all that that entails as a five star recruit.
Current Clemson commits certainly believe the Tigers have a shot, if their social media is any indication.
Three of four isn’t a bad ratio in the recruiting, if that’s how it ends up for Clemson with this group.
Clemson fans are battling between cautious optimism and downright giddiness at the thought of Woods committing to the Tigers over the Tide.
Me? I’m trying to keep an even keel on it, having been through this so many times, some with good outcomes, some with bad outcomes.
It’s difficult though, but by July 8th Clemson fans should have a real good idea of how good this class can be.
