Ratings vs Rankings

Here is the breakdown of the 247 Composite player rankings and ratings as best I can determine it on June 23, 2022.

I want to stress that this is not a final listing, and 247, as well as the other services that are part of the Composite, will make multiple changes to these ratings & rankings before they are final.

We see the 5-star rating is rather exclusive. Not many recruits get this rating. There are almost ten times as many 4-stars as there are 5-stars. If we see that a recruit is a 4-star in the 247 Composite, all that really tells us is that the player ranks somewhere between 38th best and 398th best players in the nation.

How do we know a 4-star is Top 100? Or ranked closer to 300? Or 400?
