Louisville at UCF

When: Friday, September 9, 2022

Where: Bounce House, Orlando, FL

Why: We all remember the epic matchup between Deshaun Watson and Lamar Jackson in Death Valley in 2016, but that has been the exception to the rule. Most seasons since the Cardinals joined the ACC, they have been more of a negative to Clemson’s SOS than a positive.

Louisville is making some noise in recruiting this summer for the Class of 2023. Unfortunately, those players won’t see the field until next season, so Coach Scott Satterfield will have to make do with what he has right now. Fortunately, right now they have Malik Cunningham, a quarterback who is dynamic with his feet. If he can take steps forward with his passing game, he will be a difficult player to stop.

UCF is entering their second season under Gus Malzahn. The House of Bounce has become one of the toughest places to play in the Group of Five since the Golden Knights rose to prominence under Scott Frost. While UCF is expected to remain competitive, they aren’t the favorite in the American. Louisville has a chance to get a big victory over a respected opponent on the road. If the Cardinals lose, then it’s a loss to a G5 opponent, and the perception of Clemson’s SOS suffers.
