Clemson is 3-1 all-time against Penn State, and won the last meeting between the two teams back in 2005(96-88).
Penn State went 14-17 overall last season and 7-13 in BIG TEN play. Penn State is led by second year Head coach, Micah Shrewsberry.
With the losses of Nick Honor, Al-Amir Dawes, David Collins, and Naz Bohannon, the Tigers will have a lot of making up to do in the back court. The Tigers add Brevin Galloway(Gr) who transferred from Boston College, and will look to make an immediate impact in the back court for the Tigers. The return of both Hunter Tyson and PJ Hall will help bolster the Tigers on both offense and defense this season. Not to mention how much experience Chase Hunter will bring and how excited the Clemson faithful should be to see him back in Orange and Purple this season. It is safe to say that the Tigers will have a pretty solid starting five this season, but the question will remain: “how deep is the depth of the bench this season?” Last season Brownell was able to move guys in and out whenever, this year you may see guys play longer minutes. Ian Schieffelin(So) played a good bit of minutes off the bench last season and will most likely move into a bigger role this season. Another thing to be excited about this coming basketball season is the return of Alex Hemenway for one more season. Hemenway provides great shooting for this team, and will play a very big role in his final season in Clemson.
Brad Brownell under pressure to win in 13th season at Clemson
It is no secret that Brad Brownell may be under pressure going into the season. As Brownell is set to enter his 13th season in Clemson, he is 218-166 overall at Clemson, along with three NCAA tournament appearances. It is safe to say that Brownell has not caught a break quite yet, as the Tigers have battled injuries or have disappeared in the biggest moments. It should not be forgotten however how Brownell was able to end the “loosing streak” in Chapel Hill, and how he brought a really good team to the Sweet 16. However, it is no secret that if results are not delivered this season that Clemson may soon be looking for a new head man soon.
