Cornerbacks: Xavier Brewer

The longest tenured assistant coach on staff at Clemson is Mike Reed, who is entering his tenth season at Clemson. The Tigers are fortunate to have him, but Clemson fans aren’t the only people who know that. It wouldn’t be a shock if he is tapped by another program to be a head coach one day.

Brewer is a Clemson alum who played for Coach Swinney & the Tigers from 2009-12. After a couple seasons in the NFL and Arena football, he joined Swinney’s support staff. When Bowden became the head coach of UL Monroe, Brewer joined him as the cornerbacks coach. He has since accepted a position as an analyst for Coach Venables at Oklahoma.

We all hope Coach Reed is with Clemson for years to come, but if he gets an opportunity he can’t pass up, Brewer would be a familiar name that has gotten real world experience as an on-the-field coach with the Warhawks. If there is an opening with cornerbacks at Clemson before a coaching opportunity presents itself at Oklahoma, Brewer could be a strong candidate.
