Future coaches for Clemson football
By John Chancey
Defensive Line: Miguel Chavis
Chavis was a member of the of Clemson’s support staff until Venables took the job at Oklahoma. He offered Chavis a chance to coach defensive ends, and he accepted the offer.
Chavis played for Clemson from 2006-08, so he is an alum and is very familiar with Clemson. There was some friction with Clemson Nation following his departure when he made claims that Venables’ defense was going with them to Oklahoma. Clemson fans didn’t take kindly to that considering Clemson’s defense isn’t going anywhere.
If Eason finds an opportunity as a defensive coordinator or decides to give coaching in the NFL another try, and Chavis excels at his duties coaching and recruiting with the Sooners, I think everyone could make nice and welcome him back. I can’t blame Chavis for promoting his current employer and head coach in the best way he could. Often the guy who bugs us on the other team becomes one of our favorites when he comes (or comes back) to our team.
