Future coaches for Clemson football

Running Backs: Roderick McDowell

Hot Rod McDowell is another very familiar name for Clemson Nation. He spent time working on Clemson’s support staff before taking an opportunity with Coach Terry Bowden at UL Monroe. After the 2021 season, McDowell accepted an offer to work for Rich Rodriguez, who took over as head coach at Jacksonville State when Grass resigned.

Is it likely that CJ Spiller would be promoted or move on in the next few years? I don’t think so, but stranger things have happened. Spiller spent time in the NFL too, and we can’t dismiss the possibility that he might like to give coaching in the pros a try. If the running backs coach position were to come open, McDowell would make a lot of sense.
