Offense: John Grass

Grass is the former head coach of the Jacksonville State Gamecocks from 2014-21. Most of his three decades of coaching experience were at the high school level before getting an opportunity as JSU’s offensive coordinator in 2013. When Bill Clark took the head coaching job at UAB, the Gamecocks tapped Grass as head coach. His record as head coach at Jacksonville State was 72-26, and they qualified for the playoffs in six of seven FCS seasons. In his last season, JSU began the transition to the FBS.

Following his resignation as head coach, Grass joined Clemson as an offensive analyst. Given his resume, he might not be an analyst for very long. I think someone will be interested in him as a head coach or offensive coordinator sooner than later, but if there are openings on the staff following the 2022 season, Grass might be the first candidate that Dabo considers.
