Alabama quarterback is the big name on Clemson’s commitment list and he’s showing why.

Clemson football only has four commitments for the 2023 class to date, but the highest rated of those four, quarterback Chris Vizzina of Briarwood Christian in Birmingham, Alabama is impressing evaluators at every turn.

Vizzina recently competed in the Steve Clarkson QB retreat in California and 247Sports national analyst Greg Biggins came away impressed.

"At 6-foot-4, 205 pounds, Vizzina has a solid frame, a live arm, effortless release and was very accurate, throwing with really good timing and anticipation. He looked comfortable throwing in the pocket or rolling out left or right and his upside looks very high."

Vizzina is currently rated as the 52nd overall player in the 2023 class and the number seven quarterback by 247sports.

After a recent decommitment and rumors of more to come, Tiger fans have to be happy to see this quote from Vizzina at the event:

"“It’s Clemson, it’s where I’m going, I’m locked in,” Vizzina said. “I’m going to take my official visit on June 3. My family and I are super excited about that. Even my grandparents are coming. It’ll be a good opportunity to lock some other guys in.”"

It also appears that Vizzina has been busy behind the scenes, hoping that other big time recruits join him in the Tigers 2023 class.

"“A lot of people. I don’t want to say specific names… because I think some of them might be pretty close. It’s going to be fun. I’m trying to stay active messaging everybody. Finally getting to meet these people on June 3 and so hoping to build the class."

All of this is music to Tiger fans ears, as they’ve been starved for positive news on the recruiting front as commits fall fast and furious to other teams.

All is not lost though, and Dabo still has his touch, as this quote from Vizzina discussing his relationship with the Tigers head man shows:

"“It’s just grown even more. It was already strong but now we can talk about more things than just recruiting. He’s always been real with me. Coach (Brandon) Streeter, too and everybody. All the players reached out to me when I committed and have been loving toward me. I’m so excited to get there.”"

There’s a huge weekend ahead for Clemson football recruiting and Vizzina is ready to roll hoping the weekend bears more recruiting fruit for the Tigers.
