This has been a theme with Clemson over the last few years, but the Tigers have struck out in 30.3% of their at-bats.

While I have no detailed information or analysis of NCAA Division I as a whole, I did a random sample of opponents and found these numbers:

South Carolina – 24.4%

Miami, FL – 25.1%

Notre Dame – 20.4%

Georgia – 26.8%

Obviously, when you strike out you don’t move the runners, but perhaps even worse than that, you don’t put pressure on the defense, which in college baseball is imperative.

A little more than 10 times a game, 10 of 27 outs, the Tigers are not giving the opponent’s defense a chance to make an error either literally or mentally.

Caden Grice has struck out 53 times in 120 at-bats, Bryar Hawkins 40 times and Dylan Brewer 35.
