Last week we profiled 2023 quarterback Chris Vizzina and his recruitment by Clemson football.
Vizzina’s had a busy week, receiving an offer from Jeff Scott at South Florida and spending the weekend on a visit to Auburn.
As we detailed in our original post, Vizzina has a who’s who of college football after his services at the next level, from Georgia to Ohio State to Notre Dame, Clemson, and Miami among many others.
We also pointed out that Clemson stood out to Vizzina for multiple reasons, not the least of is that he knows the Tigers have only put out two quarterback offers for the 2023 class and the other (Arch Manning) isn’t going to Tigertown.
In short, Vizzina knows he’s the quarterback the Tiger coaches want.
Is that enough to get Vizzina to commit to Clemson? No one really knows at this point, though there are some signs that point to the Tigers having a good chance.
Don’t underestimate being the only quarterback left on Clemson’s board for one thing. That’s likely powerful to a young man who’s had so much attention placed on him.
Secondly, the family atmosphere at Clemson seems like it fits Vizzina’s personality and the way he carries himself. Clemson’s culture could certainly help in this situation.
Early indications are that Vizzina may make a decision as early as this summer, though that’s not a definite. These are afterall, young men making perhaps the biggest decision of their lives and things change daily and sometimes more often than that.
For now, I believe the Clemson Tigers are in decent shape here, but they are battling some of the biggest names in recruiting for this one and they should expect no less for a player of Vizzina’s caliber.
Vizzina is ranked as the 51st player overall and seventh best quarterback in the nation by 247sports.com.
