Tigers hand out two more offers for Class of ’23
Fresh off making two offers over the weekend, the trend continued on Monday as the Clemson Tigers minted two fresh offers.
First, 6-foot-6, 230-pound pass rusher out of Austin Westlake, Colton Vasek was offered after a discussion with Dabo Swinney.
Vasek is someone I’ve actually seen play and he stands out both physically and skill wise. You don’t see 6’6 defensive linemen every day, even in 6A Texas high school football.
Currently ranked as a 3 star by 247sports.com, I’d expect Vasek’s stock to rise given his offer list includes Alabama, Georgia and Michigan among many others.
Vasek tallied 56 tackles, six tackles for loss, with 10 sacks and two caused fumbles as a junior, but keep in mind Westlake was often ahead by a very large number by halftime and his playing time in second half was likely limited.
The other offer was to 2023 offensive lineman Roderick Kearney from Orange Park, Florida. The 6-foot-4, 300-pound Kearney is listed as a tackle, but is likely to move inside at the next level.
According to 247sports.com Kearney is a top 200 player overall, the seventh best offensive lineman and the 35th ranked player in Florida in 2023.
Clemson has some ground to make up in the 2023 class as the Tigers have only one commitment, wide receiver Nathaniel Joseph from Miami, Florida.
It’s a bit odd to see Clemson currently seventh in the ACC recruiting rankings, though we all know when all is said and done Clemson will be at or near the top of the league and in the top ten nationally.
It’s relatively early in the process, but things tend to ramp up quickly as spots get filled and many recruits want their decision out of the way prior to their senior seasons.
The coming months are crucial for Dabo Swinney and staff in setting the foundation for the 2023 recruiting class with four offers in the last couple of days.
