While it may seem like recruiting boils down to two days a year, in reality it’s a year round, and in most cases, multiple year process for Dabo Swinney and staff.

The Tigers are now on the clock for the 2023 and even 2024 classes, making connections that they hope pay dividends down the road.

While the most recent class may not have met expectations of a typical Clemson haul, this cycle moves back to closer to pre-2020, with recruits able to visit campus, which in my opinion is a huge plus in Clemson’s case.

Get them on campus and you’ve got a chance.

Clemson football has a huge recruiting class on tap this weekend with multiple 2023 and 2024 recruits expected to be on campus as the spring recruiting begins to heat up.

Quarterbacks always headline the show and filling that role this weekend will be five star Jadyn Davis of Providence High in Charlotte, the number two overall player in the class and number one quarterback.

The six foot one Davis has offers from Alabama, Georgia, Florida State, Notre Dame and a host of others and currently ranks behind only cornerback Desmond Davis in the 2024 class.

Depth has been a concern at the position with recent attrition, but the addition of Cade Klubnik and the addition of Hunter Johnson have allayed those fears to a certain extent.

Friday evening, Jeremiah Cobb a four star running back from Montgomery, Alabama announced he had arrived in the Clemson area for the weekend.

Four star linebacker Grant Godfrey, class of 2023 from Suwannee, Georgia will also be on hand.

Godfrey is listed at 6’3, 200 is ranked 202 overall and has offers from Tennessee, Ole Miss, Kentucky and Boston College among others.

Also anticipated to be on hand are Davis’ teammate Jordan Shipp, also a 2024 wide receiver prospect.

It’s no secret Clemson has to be better along the offensive line and to that end they have multiple 2024 big guys arriving for the weekend in an attempt to get in early.

Offensive line is a notoriously difficult position to judge in recruiting, both for the recruiters and those that rank players and the miss ratio is generally much higher among both groups, which means quantity is often a more important component than other positions, with the exception perhaps of defensive line.

Clemson finished tenth in the 2022 247sports.com recruiting rankings, but missed on several big time recruits, leaving question marks about the Tigers future among the college football elite and adding urgency to the 2023 class in both quantity and quality.

The seeds are being planted and hopefully the trees bear fruit on signing day.
