Five potential replacements for Clemson football if Tony Elliott left for TCU

3. Dino Babers (Syracuse head coach)

Dino Babers has made some blunders as the head coach of the Syracuse Orange and that has many in Syracuse circles wanting him out.

While we don’t see this one as a likely possibility, it’s still something that Dabo Swinney could consider if everything fell in the right place.

There’s no denying Babers’ offensive acumen and having him come in to simply focus on calling plays and developing an offensive system could be exactly what the doctor ordered for both parties.

Babers and Swinney have a good relationship and those two working together alongside Brent Venables absolutely could build a championship program.

Getting Babers’ offensive mind while not having him make the head coaching decisions at the end of games could be a major recipe for success.

Now, there’s no denying that if Babers was fired from Syracuse that he’d likely want to land somewhere as a head coach, but there could be an appeal to not having to worry about all those headaches for a few years and to come coach for a program where he knows he can have success in a culture like Clemson.
