Clemson football fans have to pull for a big Florida State win this weekend
Just a week after beating ACC Atlantic Division rival Florida State, Clemson football fans are going to have to do something that they simply aren’t used to: Pull for the ‘Noles.
Over the course of the last couple of decades, there may have only been a handful of times– if that– where we have seen any contingent of Clemson football fans pull for the Seminoles and, in 99.9 percent of the cases, it has never been easy to stomach.
Even with this last half-decade of beating Florida State, Clemson fans will never forget the years of beatings that the Tigers took in the 1990s, 2000s and even early 2010s at the hands of the Seminoles and the heated rivalry that has been developed between the two fanbases over the course of that time.
Still, for just this weekend, Clemson football fans will need to pull for a big FSU win
If you’re wanting this 2021 season to have the best possible outcome, you need to pull for Florida State this weekend and here’s why: The Seminoles will have NC State at home.
NC State currently has one loss in conference and holds the tiebreaker over Clemson. The Wolfpack has four ACC games remaining– FSU, Wake Forest, Syracuse and UNC– and they have to lose two of them for the Tigers to even have a chance at winning the division.
Every week that they win is another opportunity out the door to get back in the division race and, frankly, we’re running out of games. With the steady improvement that we’ve seen from Florida State over the last month, this could be a major opportunity for them to come away with a win in front of their home crowd.
If FSU won, the Wolfpack would need to lose only one more time between Wake Forest, Syracuse and UNC. Interestingly enough, NC State could actually begin helping out Clemson if they delivered a win over Wake Forest the following week and then you’d only have to win out and have Syracuse or UNC beat the Wolfpack.
Louisville couldn’t get the job done against NC State last weekend and we’ve only got four more weeks of games remaining. That’s why– even as nauseating as it may seem– if you want the best outcome possible for the remainder of this 2021 Clemson football season, you may have to hold the nose up and stomach pulling for FSU for a single week.
