Three reasons Dabo Swinney will get the Clemson football program turned around

2. Brent Venables isn’t going anywhere

Here’s the truth: There likely needs to be some staff changes made on the offensive side of the ball.

When you underperform to the point of being outside the top-100 in basically every single offensive team category, the staff needs to come under fire and for good reason.

But, let’s also not forget that Brent Venables is still coaching that defense and what does that mean? It means you’re still going to have a perennial top-10 unit on that side of the ball.

Venables has been the best Defensive Coordinator in the country and he continues to show that he’s willing to adjust his unit to find innovative ways to get the opposing offense off the field. It doesn’t always work and there will always be room to improve, but there’s no doubt that Venables is the hardest worker and one of the brightest defensive minds in the country.

The steadiness that Clemson football fans can find in Venables should present at least a little comfort as we look towards the future and it means one thing, really: If the Tigers can find any kind of way to have success offensively again, they’ll be right back to their status of being one of the top teams in the country.
