The 2021 Clemson football season has gone nothing like what Tiger fans had hoped for and the result has seen Clemson fall to just 4-3 on the season currently with little positivity to find looking towards the final five games of the season.

The Tigers will miss the CFB Playoff for the first time in seven seasons and they are in serious danger– hanging on by a thread– of missing the ACC Championship for the first time in as many seasons, as well.

As a result, the program has come under fire.

We’ve been as critical as any on changes we’d like to see made and things that the Clemson football coaching staff and program as a whole must adjust to stay relevant in the coming years.

There still is hope for the future, however. Here’s a look at three reasons why Dabo Swinney will get the program turned around.

Three reasons Dabo Swinney will get the Clemson football program turned around

1. The talent is still there & it’s still coming

Let’s not act like the cupboard is bare.

Clemson has underperformed in a way that we simply haven’t seen in the past, but that doesn’t mean the Tigers are doomed to be perennial underperformers who fall off the face of the planet after one season.

Let’s not forget that this is still a roster full of 4-stars and 5-stars– many of which are freshman and sophomores– and the vast majority of this team will be back next year. In addition, Clemson currently has a top-10 class incoming for the 2021 recruiting cycle, including the nation’s top QB in Cade Klubnik, and there is still plenty of interest in Clemson football in the recruiting world.

There are adjustments that need to be made, no doubt.

Clemson needs to be more open to taking transfers for positions that make sense rather than giving scholarships to walk-ons on every occasion. The Tigers need to be more open to over-signing and taking bigger recruiting classes to compensate for the inevitable losses to the NCAA Transfer Portal.

But, make no mistake about it. When you look at the future schedules for Clemson football, there’s still no doubt that the Tigers are the more talented team in basically every game they’ll play.
