The four stages of grief for Clemson football fans

2. Defensive

The next stage is just a slight step forward from the ‘denial’ crowd.

This group recognizes deep down that there are problems that need to be addressed, but the last thing they want is for those things to be discussed.

They’ll call out other Clemson fans who are advocating for change and they’ll talk about how “they lived through 1990s when Tommy West was the coach” as if that gives some kind of clout.

Just like the ‘denial group,’ they’ll mention past successes as reasons that Tiger fans shouldn’t be questioning the staff or program, but have no solutions for how the program gets better looking towards the future. Well, other than blind hope that the staff will somehow figure it out.

If you question anything about the program or how it’s being handled currently, they’ll call you ‘entitled’ and ‘spoiled.’

Yes, they know that there are some problems but they don’t want to hear you say anything out loud.
