The Clemson football team didn’t get the 2021 season started in the way that most Tiger fans had hoped.

Though Clemson had every chance to pick up a win in the season-opener, the Tigers fell short with a 10-3 loss at the hands of the Georgia Bulldogs and now they’ll be looking to rebound with a win in their home-opener this weekend against FCS opponent S.C. State.

While the action on the field, in terms of competition, might be scarce, there is still plenty to watch this weekend if you’re a Clemson football fan who is hoping to see the team take strides in develop.

Here’s a look at five Tigers we’ll finally get to see showcased this weekend.

Five Clemson football players we’ll finally get to see showcased vs. S.C. State

1. Will Shipley

Will Shipley is a running back who we have heard so much about and he was on the field quite a bit in Week 1, but the result were minimal– and that wasn’t his fault.

Shipley carried the ball four times for seven yards and he had one catch for 11 yards.

Tony Elliott never committed to the running game and, as a result, Shipley and those other running backs were never given a chance to get going. We suspect this weekend will be a much different story.

Clemson is going to challenge the offensive line to get better and that means we’re going to see the running backs, particularly Shipley, Lyn-J Dixon and Kobe Pace, get plenty of carries.

Look for the freshman to reel off at least one explosive play in the process.
