After a long offseason, your Clemson Tigers will finally be back in action this weekend as they take on the Georgia Bulldogs in the 2021 Dukes Mayo Classic.
The Tigers enter the season holding a streak of six-straight CFB Playoff berths and they’ll be looking to extend that to seven as they focus on righting the embarrassing loss to Ohio State from last January.
That all starts with this matchup against Georgia.

Clemson Tigers Injury Report vs. Georgia Bulldogs for Week 1
Clemson made it through fall camp relatively healthy. Dabo Swinney announced last week that backup QB Taisun Phommachanh– who tore his Achilles in the spring– would be available for this opener and WR Joseph Ngata, who missed several practices with a hamstring injury, is now back and at 100 percent.
On the other side, Georgia will be without George Pickens and Dominick Blaylock who are rehabbing injuries, and both Tykee Smith and Darnell Washington are listed as ‘doubtful’ with foot injuries for the season opener.
Clemson Tigers vs. Georgia Bulldogs Prediction for Week 1
One of the biggest factors heading into this season-opener will have to do with the lines of scrimmage.
It’s pretty simple in any game to say that the team that wins the lines of scrimmage will win the game, but that honestly couldn’t be any more true heading into this one.
Both Clemson and Georgia have questions on their offensive line. Both the Tigers and Bulldogs have extremely talented defensive lines. The offensive line that finds a way to get the job done more effectively is going to give their team the ‘inside track’ to winning the game.
Both of these teams have plenty of talent and they’ll both be motivated to make a statement early on in the season, but where this game breaks down in favor of the Tigers is within the coaching staff.
Clemson has been on the biggest stage with this same exact staff and has won. The Tigers have heard all offseason about how they’re taking a step back and how many believe they’re a fraud. We believe that motivation and the decided advantage that they’ll have in their coaching staff will be the difference in this one. So, we’re taking Clemson minus the three points.
