The 2021 Clemson football season will be defined by these things

7. D.J. Uiagalelei’s ability to fill Trevor Lawrence’s shoes

D.J. Uiagalelei’s season is going to be picked apart with a microscope for good or for bad.

Uiagalelei is now the face of the Clemson football program and the success of the Tigers rests on his shoulders.

He showed flashes of greatness in two starts against Boston College and Notre Dame last season when he threw for nearly 800 yards and accounted for six touchdowns, and the expectations are through the roof for him heading into this season.

Can Uiagalelei deliver?

When we look at his talent, it’s clear to me he has the strongest arm of any Clemson QB in the history of the program, including Trevor Lawrence. The question is if he can be accurate in his passes, take over as the unquestioned leader of the offense and correct some of his footwork issues.

Uiagalelei has the ability to be the greatest to ever play at Clemson, but no one can say for certain what he will do until he gets on the field and shows it as ‘the guy.’
