Biggest questions for Clemson football with the ACC, Big Ten, Pac-12 alliance

5. Does this force Notre Dame’s hand to join the ACC?

Depending upon how this conference alliance– if it ever forms– handles things, Notre Dame may finally find its best interest to be joining a conference full-time.

Until 2036, Notre Dame can only join the ACC.

The benefits for the ACC are obvious, but could we see the Big Ten and Pac-12 push for Notre Dame to join the ACC simply for more alliance matchups? There’s no doubt that could lead to more money in the pot for those two other conferences even if Notre Dame isn’t in their league.

An alliance where three conferences are working together certainly would be something that would have Notre Dame turning its head.

We’re not saying this would be enough to finally force the hand of the Fighting Irish, but depending upon the expanded CFB Playoff discussions and the revenue that the alliance could generate, if done right, it certainly could become more intriguing for the Golden Domers.
