Biggest questions for Clemson football with the ACC, Big Ten, Pac-12 alliance

3. What about the expanded CFB Playoff?

Speaking of the CFB Playoff, isn’t this what it’s all about?

SEC commissioner Greg Sankey actively worked to get an expanded CFB Playoff in the works and then just as soon as it seemed to pass the eyes of those who would make the decision, he added Oklahoma and Texas to his league. It didn’t happen by coincidence.

So, where does this leave the CFB Playoff and its talk of expansion? Well, in short, it’s going to be wherever the ACC, Pac-12 and Big Ten choose to take it.

Those three conferences– if they’re truly on the same page– will now hold the power to dictate terms of an expanded playoff field. They’ll be able to enforce rules of inclusion and will be able to at least hold the SEC at-bay when it comes to the balance of power in College Football.

We’re not saying the SEC won’t still have more than its fair share of power and a seat at the table, but this alliance could at least keep the conference from going rogue anymore than it already has.
