No one inside or out of the Clemson football program, including Justyn Ross, knew if this day would ever be possible.

Clemson football WR Justyn Ross missed the 2020 season following a surgery on his spine and there were questions on if he’d ever be able to play the sport again. Despite the unknowns, Ross worked diligently through rehab and never took his eyes off the goal of returning to 100 percent.

Fast-forward more than a year later and Ross was given the official clearance to return to the football field.

Even after that long road he traveled, when fall camp finally get here, he had to wait just a bit longer.

Ross was unable to be with the Tigers through the first week of fall camp because he was in COVID protocol. Now, on Friday, August 13, the wide receiver got to officially make his return to the field.

Ross met with the media for the first time in 2021 to discuss his return to football and said he is ready to play.

"“I feel like the same ole J-Ross,” he said. “I ain’t got no piece of fear in me at all. I’m ready to play.”"

Opposing defense should be scared when looking at the weapon Clemson football has in Justyn Ross

Out of all the news and notes we’ve heard or talked about through the first portion of preseason camp, this is truly the most important.

Ross has been working extremely hard to get back on the field and this is a big moment for him. He has been waiting for the moment when he could return to 100 percent and it seems he is more than ready to go.

As far as what it means for Clemson, you honestly couldn’t have asked for a much better outcome.

Ross is easily one of the most talented wide receivers in the country and he has the ability to be dominant.

The Tigers are going to use him all over the field, but they’ve talked specifically about utilizing him in the slot. If they stick with that plan, you’ll be talking about a 6-foot-3, 210 pound guy who is far too fast for a linebacker or safety and still too physical for a cornerback to move inside and guard him.

Ross is going to give D.J. Uiagalelei that safety blanket that very well may prove to be the difference in the offense’s success this season. He is going to go up and get 50/50 balls and he is going to be a dominant force for opposing defenses to reckon with.

We’re ready to see Justyn Ross again and it’s clear he’s ready.
