The Clemson football fanbase has been acclaimed as one of the best in the nation by many publications, but that’s not the case with one CFB analyst.

Outkick’s Joe Kinsey recently published his list of the best College Football tailgating destinations for the 2021 season and he did not list the game in Charlotte between Clemson and Georgia among those matchups.

Why? It’s a neutral-site matchup and he believes Clemson football fans are “boring.”

"“I know you want to tell me how great Georgia-Clemson in Charlotte will be. I completely disagree. Clemson fans are easily the most boring top-10 team fans in the country and it isn’t even close. Have you ever watched Clemson fans during GameDay? I’m not sure some of those people have an excitable bone in their bodies. UGA fans will dominate the Charlotte scene and it won’t even be close. Plus, the game isn’t on a campus. I can’t have one school bringing boring fans to a neutral site location. At least in Chicago, the Wisconsin and Notre Dame fans will go hard.”"

Clemson football fans travel just as well as any fanbase in the country and the tailgating scene is among the nation’s best

From reading that paragraph, it’s clear to me that Kinsey has never been to Clemson or spent much time around the tailgating scene in Tiger Town.

Clemson football fans do tailgating just as good as any fanbase in the country and that can be seen by the numerous accolades that the Tiger faithful receive year-in and year-out when it comes to tailgating.

One thing that’s easy to notice about Outkick is that the publication has a strong SEC bias and that’s certainly playing a part in the list here.

To say that Wisconsin fans are more exciting and will travel better than Clemson fans– to a game that is almost in their backyard– is laughable.

Go look back at the CFB Playoff games in the past six years. Other than the game in New Orleans in LSU’s backyard, Tiger fans have traveled just as well and have represented their team in numbers that are comparable to Ohio State, Alabama, Oklahoma and Notre Dame, in some cases even beating out those teams.

Anyone that thinks Georgia fans are going to ‘dominate the Charlotte scene‘ simply hasn’t been paying attention.

The only guess I can make is that his idea of ‘excitable’ is being obnoxious or doing stupid things, as you can see in many of the videos shared in the post.

I suppose to be an ‘exciting fanbase’ you have to bark at other fan groups. Actually winning games at an elite pace and having one of the loudest stadiums in the country clearly don’t count for anything.

Next. Something has to give against Georgia. dark
