Clemson QB DJ Uiagalelei now has another major sponsorship to add to his portfolio and this one is a big one.
Dr. Pepper announced Wednesday morning that the company had partnered with DJ Uiagalelei for their next installment of Fansville.
"“Every time I turn on the TV every Saturday, I always see a commercial with Dr. Pepper,” Uiagalelei said in an interview with Sports Illustrated earlier this week. “When they reached out to me, it was a no-brainer.”"
This endorsement deal is the first one to feature a big brand to partner with a College Football player for a national television commercial.
DJ Uiagalelei is about to be the face of College Football with his Dr. Pepper partnership
When we talk about College Football, there are certain sight and sounds that are always associated with the sports.
We think about team entrances, tailgating and the pageantry of a Saturday in college towns. We think about play-makers and exciting down-to-the-wire matchups and the emotions that come within the games. We also think about ESPN College GameDay and the fun of waking up to that show on Saturday morning to preview our day.
One of the other aspects of College Football that we also think about– even if it’s in our subconscious– is the iconic commercials that come specifically with the sport.
The company that has done the best job with that over the last few years? Dr. Pepper with its Fansville television commercials.
When you see those Dr. Pepper Fansville commercials, you think about College Football.
Now, the brand that has done such a good job appealing to the CFB audience, is now partnering with Uiagalelei and we’re going to see him featured in the popular television commercial.
This commercial is going to be seen by CFB fans across the nation and it’s going to quickly make Uiagalelei a household name potentially unlike anything we’ve ever seen before in the sport.
When people see a Dr. Pepper commercial, they’re going to think of College Football. Now, when they see that commercial they’re going to associate Uiagalelei and College Football together.
The result? DJ Uiagalelei is going to become the face of College Football.
