Three things the ACC must do outside of expanding and how they affect Clemson football

3. Improve relations with Notre Dame

While this does somewhat have to do with expansion, it’s not completely about that.

Even if the ACC isn’t actively expanding by adding Notre Dame as a full-time member, the one thing the conference can do is actively improve relations with the Fighting Irish.

The ACC can gauge interest from Notre Dame and have open discussions with what it would take to make them a member in football.

Perhaps the next move would be increase the amount of games Notre Dame would play against ACC opponents. Right now, the Irish play five games annually against ACC teams. What if that number moved to six?

Now, all of a sudden, the ACC is getting more revenue from having another game against Notre Dame each season and it’s slowly taking more steps to adding the Irish.

If you want to add Notre Dame as a full-time member– and basically every ACC school power has said as much– you’ve got to start with small steps towards improving relations and adding another game with the Irish each year would be an excellent way to start that process.
