The absolute worst case-scenarios for Clemson football in ACC realignment

Worst Scenario No. 3: Florida State bolts for the SEC

We’re not sure this is really a realistic scenario, but it very well could be the absolute worst case-scenario for Clemson football.

We wrote earlier that Clemson needed to be leery of Florida State in conference realignment and there are reports that the Seminoles have been “proactive” in these discussions.

Perhaps the ACC grant of rights deal is too strong, but if Florida State challenges it and somehow finds a way out, that would be absolutely detrimental to the conference as a whole and Clemson, if the Tigers remained.

The worst case for Clemson would be remaining loyal to the ACC just to have the SEC come and pull the rug out from under the Tigers by poaching Florida State.

Like it or not, the ACC can’t survive without Clemson and Florida State and the worst would be for the Tigers to have some blind loyalty to the conference while their partner looks elsewhere.

Next. 3 moves that would solidify the ACC as a power. dark
