The NCAA has opened up the floodgates for Clemson football when they lifted the suspension of in-person visits back on June 1st. Since then the Tigers have cleaned up in recruiting.

Clemson football got another bigtime commitment when South Carolina’s top prospect, Jeadyn Lukus, committed to the Tigers Wednesday night. He is the first 5-star commitment according to 247Sports Composite.

Over the last two months Clemson football has shot up the recruiting rankings, as many Tiger fans expected and much to the dismay of many that hoped that Dabo Swinney had lost his touch and that Clemson was heading back down the mountainside.

Clemson football has big-time momentum in recruiting

Ohio State and UGA jumped out quickly in recruiting for the class of 2022, while Clemson football got off to a very slow start. Over the last couple of months, Ohio State and UGA have slowed down, and while Alabama and Clemson have started to roll.

Since June 1st, the Tigers have gotten commitments from seven of their 11 total commitments for the class of 2022 – one 5-star, five 4-stars, and a 3-star. In that same time frame, UGA has picked up just two commitments, Ohio State five (the Buckeyes also lost an early commitment) and like Clemson, Alabama has picked up seven of their 13 commitments since June 1st.

The Crimson Tide picked up commitments from one 5-star, four 4-star, and one 3-star commitment since June 1st.

The 2022 Clemson football recruiting class has also jumped in per player ratings in the last eight weeks. When June 1st rolled around, the Tigers were 9th in per player rating, after this week’s commitment of Lukus, the Tigers have jumped to third with a 94.00 overall rating – Alabama and Ohio State are still higher.

The Tigers are still waiting on several high-profile recruits to make their decisions, but make no mistake about it, the 2022 recruiting class is shaping up to be the best in program history as young men are lining up to wear the purple and orange.

Next. Swinney just gave away the SEC’s entire plan for CFB expansion. dark
