1. Clemson football could finally put to rest the tired SEC narratives

This might be more of a personal reason than anything having to do with true substance, but don’t you as a Clemson football fan get sick of hearing how great the SEC is?

Well, you’re going to hear it even more now. Just wait until we get a 12-team playoff and the SEC has eight of the selections.

If Clemson joined the SEC, the Tigers could finally put to bed the narratives pushed by so many of those SEC fans- ie. South Carolina & Georgia fans especially- who said they couldn’t survive if they “were in a real conference.”

Clemson could prove to the nation year-in and year-out that it’s one of the best teams and the Tigers would have the built-in benefit that they could lose 2, 3, maybe even 4 games and still be considered for a spot in a 12-team CFB Playoff. Sounds like a win-win, right?

In addition to putting to bed the tired narrative, can you imagine the fun matchups we would get to see?

  • Clemson at Texas
  • Alabama at Clemson
  • Florida at Clemson
  • Clemson at Georgia
  • Auburn at Clemson
  • Clemson at LSU

The fan appeal for what we’d see in a super conference like this would absolutely be unlike anything we’ve ever seen.

Maybe it’s not in the best interest of Clemson to leave the ACC, but there are certainly some reasons to consider it.
