One of the top priority targets for the Clemson football coaching staff in the 2022 recruiting cycle has received another crystal ball prediction in favor of the Tigers by a 247 sports recruiting insider.

4-star CB Jeadyn Lukus, the No. 1 player in the state of South Carolina, has been considered a battle between Clemson and the North Carolina Tar Heels for quite some time. There were times when Lukus seemed like a lean to Clemson football and other times where the UNC train was moving at an uncomfortable pace for the Tigers.

While Lukus has not announced a commitment date as of yet, the belief is that he’ll be making a decision sooner rather than later.

Clemson 247 Insider Corey Fravel put in a crystal ball prediction for the Tigers and listed his confidence as ‘high.’

Lukus might be the most important piece in the 2022 recruiting cycle for Clemson football

While it’s going to be important to fill every positional need, the Tigers are thin at cornerback and they’re in need of a player who can come in and make an impact immediately beginning next year.

Clemson already has one commitment in 4-star CB Toriano Pride, but the Tigers have their sights set on two more in Lukus and 4-star Daylen Everette, who is set to announce this month by the way.

Lukus has always been the top target at the position, though. Honestly, because of the importance of building depth at the cornerback position and what that spot has begun to mean in the current state of College Football, Lukus might very well be the most important piece in the 2022 recruiting cycle for the Tigers.

If Clemson can lock him up, the Tigers have to feel good about the future of their defensive backfield moving forward.

Lukus is currently rated as the No. 6 cornerback in the nation and the No. 37 overall player by the 247 Sports’ composite player rankings.
