A top Clemson football target is set to announce his decision in just a matter of a couple of weeks.

4-star CB Daylen Everette will be announcing his commitment on Saturday, July 17th and the Tigers are firmly in the mix as we head down the stretch.

Everette, an IMG Academy prospect, is currently ranked as the No. 7 cornerback in the nation and the No. 40 overall player by the 247 Sports’ composite player rankings.

What Clemson football fans should expect as we head down the stretch of Everette’s recruitment

Clemson already has one commitment at the cornerback position in 4-star Toriano Pride and it’s been made pretty clear that the Tigers have two more priority targets at the position for this cycle: 5-star CB Jeadyn Lukus and Everette.

Both Everette and Lukus are basically coming down to the same finalists for their schools.

Lukus is believed to be a Clemson-UNC battle. Everette also is believed to be a battle between the Tigers and Tar Heels, with Georgia potentially moving in as the third team in position.

Everette took unofficial visits to Clemson and North Carolina in June and he also took official visits to North Carolina and Georgia towards the end of that month. The Tigers don’t allow official visits until the fall, but they still made a good impression from everything we’ve heard.

So what should Clemson football fans expect from Everette?

Everette is announcing his decision before the All-In Cookout which is something we wouldn’t take as a great sign, but from all accounts the Tigers feel like they’re still in good position. IMG Academy prospects generally like to get their decision out of the way before the start of their senior season and Everette is no exception.

At this point, we would give the slight advantage to UNC and would put the Tigers second. Georgia isn’t out of the running by any stretch of the imagination, either, but we would still peg it more as a two-team race at this point.

If Clemson does garner a commitment from Everette, the Tigers will still have a spot open for Lukus in this cycle.
