One of the top targets for Clemson football in the 2022 recruiting cycle is now recruiting against the Tigers for some key remaining prospects.

4-star LB Jalon Walker was the top linebacker prospect for Clemson football earlier in this cycle and it seemed for the longest time that he would end up a Tiger. Clemson led in his recruitment for over a year and then as we got just a couple of weeks out from his decision, things began to change.

Walker eventually committed to the Georgia Bulldogs and it was the first big blow to this 2022 recruiting cycle for the Tigers.

However, as we head through the rest of the cycle, it seems that losing Walker might not be the only prospect that the Tigers have to worry about coming up short on.

Jalon Walker is recruiting for Georgia and against Clemson football

Just like many other recruits, Walker is recruiting for several prospects to join his class. Two of the names that he has been most heavily involved with? 5-star DT Travis Shaw and 4-star TE Oscar Delp.

Walker has been all over Twitter promoting the Bulldogs and his latest posts deal with both Shaw and Delp.

There were rumblings even before Walker committed to Georgia that his relationship with Shaw could play a factor in the defensive tackle’s recruitment. As we head through the summer, it’s becoming clear that those rumblings have some legitimacy.

Clemson has made it clear that its top target at defensive tackle is Travis Shaw and the top prospect at tight end is Oscar Delp. If both of those guys end up at Georgia- and it’s certainly a possibility- it would be a major blow.

While it’s not as if Walker’s recruitment will be the direct decision why, the momentum that the Bulldog class is trying to build certainly would have played a factor.
