Clemson football: Ranking all 12 games on the 2021 schedule by difficulty
8. vs. Wake Forest Demon Deacons (Nov. 20)
Wake Forest has one of the better offenses in the ACC and the Demon Deacons will be looking to challenge the Tigers when they step into Death Valley in late November.
QB Sam Hartman is back and he’ll have one of the best wide receivers in the conference in Jaquarii Roberson to throw the ball to. When you add in that the Demon Deacons return all five of their starting offensive linemen, you can see why they might be a little dangerous.
The problem, though, is on the defensive side of the ball.
Though Wake Forest returns eight starters on the defensive side of the ball, the Demon Deacons gave up an average of 32.8 points per game last year.
Clemson scored 37 on them and we can imagine that by November the Tiger offense will be clicking at an even higher level than what we saw last year when the two teams matched up in September.
Wake Forest has the offensive firepower to break off a big play or two, but this game is at home and the Tigers will be roaring along in ‘Championship Phase’ by then.
