Clemson football: Ranking all 12 games on the 2021 schedule by difficulty
10. @ Syracuse Orange (Oct. 15)
There’s not much to be excited about if you’re a Syracuse Orange fan stepping into the 2021 season.
When it looked as if Syracuse was going to make a run at potentially become a solidified program in the ACC, the Orange went completely down the gutter. The Orange went 10-3 during the 2018 season, but followed that up with a 5-7 season in 2019 and then an abysmal 1-10 season last fall.
The Orange have a bit of a quarterback battle going on with Garrett Shrader and Tommy DeVito and it’s my opinion that we’ll see both for quite a while this fall.
By the time the Orange host the Tigers in mid-October, Syracuse should have decided on a quarterback but it won’t make much of a difference. Clemson has too much depth, talent and experience to lose to the Orange, especially since this game will be played on a Friday night.
Some may look at that as a ‘trap’ situation, but you can be sure that the Clemson football coaching staff will have their players ready to go and will remind them constantly about the loss the Tigers suffered back in 2017 at the hands of the Orange on a Friday night in the Carrier Dome.
