Clemson football: Ranking all 12 games on the 2021 schedule by difficulty
11. vs. UConn Huskies (Nov. 13)
Perhaps the single-most disappointing non-conference opponent scheduling in the recent history of the Clemson football program is this game with UConn.
It’s understandable that Clemson would schedule a game against a lower opponent when it has Georgia and South Carolina in the non-conference, but this makes for a bad home game slate when you were already facing the Bulldogs at a neutral-site venue.
The Huskies are nothing more than a glorified FCS program and, honestly, there are a lot of FCS teams that would beat them handily.
UConn coach Randy Edsall was quick to throw other FBS programs under the bus last August when the Huskies canceled their season, but many others were still considering making a ‘go’ at the 2020 season.
Interestingly enough, it was this Clemson football program and its players that stood up when things were looking bleak and started the #WeWantToPlay movement that resulted in a change.
Ultimately, the FBS was able to get in a season and do so to a completion.
