Clemson football: D.J. Uiagalelei becomes first Tiger to sign with an agent
The first player in Clemson football history to sign with an agency and still be eligible to play college sports is QB D.J. Uiagalelei.
Uiagalelei, the sophomore quarterback from Inland Empire, California, announced that he had signed a deal with Vayner Sports on Friday afternoon.
Uiagalelei revealed that he would be working with his family and the agency to promote his brand and pursue what potential options he may have in name, image and likeness (NIL).
Vayner Sports tabs itself as a “social and digital agency powerhouse” and was founded by Gary and AJ Vaynerchuk. The agency represents athletes such as Isaac Rochell (Chargers DE), Leonard Williams (Jets DE), Charlotte Flair (WWE superstar), Stipe Miocic (UFC Heavyweight Champion) and many others across a plethora of sports.
If he plays it right, D.J. Uiagalelei will be a millionaire before he leaves the Clemson football program
Uiagalelei knew what he was doing when he decided to look at hiring an agency to look out for him. He wanted to have someone with experience in the professional field and wanted to get the absolute most out of his opportunity.
This is a move that benefits both Uiagalelei and the agency. When he graduates from college, there’s a solid chance that Uiagalelei will be the most notable client for Vayner Sports and he will absolutely take that agency to new heights.
If we see D.J. Uiagalelei lead Clemson football to a National Championship and he proves to be a top player nationally, he could easily leave Clemson as a millionaire before ever even suiting up for an NFL team.
We would suggest that you’re going to see some major endorsement deals go the way of D.J. Uiagalelei before it’s all said and done. He’s going to be one of the highest-profiled college athletes in the country over the next two years and him signing with an agency shows us that he is preparing for just that to happen.
