July 1st is a day that could see college athletes around the country finally cash in on their name, image, and likeness, NIL. Clemson athletes, especially football, will be in a prime spot to among the most sought after.

That isn’t a jab at other athletes at Clemson, we love them all. Clemson football players are different – their program is among the most high profile because they have spent almost a decade winning at the highest level and that will allow its players to cash in sooner on their NIL.

The current crop of Tigers is about to cash in on their NIL because of their work ethic, talent, and of course those that came before them.

Clemson football players are in a perfect triangle for NIL cash

Sure, Clemson is a small town. Our little brother in Columbia loves to remind us that they are in a “big city” as if that is somehow a great recruiting pitch – clearly, it isn’t. However, Clemson football players are going to be laughing at those constant small-town jokes all the way to the bank.

Clemson is perfectly placed in order for all Clemson athletes to cash in as early as Thursday, July 1st.

What people don’t think about is the proximity Clemson is to Charlotte, Atlanta, and Columbia. The university is 131 miles to Charlotte, 122 miles to Atlanta, and 134 miles to Columbia. All three major cities are also home to some of Clemson’s biggest alumni bases outside of the upstate.

All of those factors, in addition to the high-profile nature of the programs and each athlete’s status, will absolutely be factored into whether or not a business believes that investing in an athlete will be profitable enough to sign.

While Clemson itself may be a small town, the athletes that walk campus every day are anything but and each will have access to three large metro areas with the ability to capitalize on their name, image, and likeness.

If rumors are true, we could a Clemson football player announce a deal as soon as NIL becomes legal Thursday.
